few tips for misleading those I call “shakers and squeezers.”

bells, weights, or padding to your package before wrapping it.
(My husband and I once put loose silverware in a package
containing a gift to our son. It shifts around and makes a great
deal of rattling noise when the package is shaken. It also adds
weight to light packages.)

Wrap a toy,
token, or picture representing the gift along with a clue as to
where the actual gift can be found.

Wrap a gift
inside a series of wrapped boxes.

Hide a small
gift in a huge bouquet of flowers, a jar of penny candy, a
bucket of marbles, a box of chocolates, or a bag of popcorn.
Q: I’m looking
for a novel way to present the gift of a Las Vegas vacation. I
thought of sending a letter detailing the fun time they’ll have
along with a bag of quarters for the slot machines. Do you have any
other suggestions?
